We at Kirknewton Archers are proud to say well done and congratulations to Martyn Nesbitwho last week, won The Belford Cup 2009. We hope he dose the same next year.
Congratulations to all who just completed the latest course.
All shot very well and seemed to be enjoying themselves.
(thats what they told us anyway !!) Well done from left to right :-
Andrew, Caroline, Tina, Barbara
John & Lucy - Annie & Steve (AWOL)
What's that Norman's holding? No, surely not......
Yup, certainly is - a gold medal.
That's what you get when you win a competition with your longbow.
The venue.... Belsay Castle Longbow shoot, superbly organised by Ponteland Archers, June 2008.
The Kirknewton Contingent; Neil Endicott, Tom Wilson, Joe Smith and Norman Gauld
He also managed 4th, 4th and 6th places in the other competitions of the weekend but did fail miserably in the 2 wand competitions. There was about 40 shooting each day.
He's only had his longbow since March of this year so he's really not done too bad.
We'll never hear the end of it.
The Fiendishly Difficult Waand Competition
Tom was one of only 4 out of 50 competitors to hit the wand which is a 4" wide post 50 yards away. Plus you only shoot one arrow each. To be honest it is far, far more difficult to do than hit a sissy target. (tee hee !!)
